- Decimal Day: Britain had to relearn its money on 15 February. Twelve old pennies to a shilling and 20 shillings to a pound gave way to 100 new pence — a huge everyday change for anyone used to £sd.
- “New pence”: The wording itself became part of the memory of decimalisation, with shoppers, tills, price labels and pockets all adjusting to unfamiliar coins and values.
