101 Tie Break Quiz Questions

Here is a massive list of intuitive pub quiz tie-break questions with answers.

These questions were fact checked in 2023. As with this whole site, we provide ideas rather than ready-made quizzes.

Best Way To Format A Tie Break Question

It’s always preferable at the end of a quiz to have a clear 1, 2, 3 on the scoreboard. However if teams tie on equal points, the tie break question has to decide who wins. The question has to be engaging and allow the whole pub to play along.

If there is suspicion that a team has been cheating on the quiz, the best method is to invite one member of each team (the captain) to the front to answer on their own.

How Difficult Should A Tie Break Question Be?

When a quiz night ends in a tie break, you want it decided once and for all. If you find the questions on our list too easy for your audience, try combining two questions for a total number.

All answers are numbers, therefore in a typical pub quiz tie breaker, the team that provide an answer closest to the actual correct answer, win the play-off.

If you regularly host pub quiz nights, bookmark this page on your smartphone to quickly access this list of ideas while you are on stage.
